Old Horse Mill at Tillychardoch, Tarland

This photograph show the central pit in which the gear and drive shaft was located. The drive shaft ran towards the steading which is located towards the top of the photograph and some subsidence can be seen in what remains of the covered ditch in which the power shaft ran. Bolt holes can be seen which would have held the gearing fast above the pit. See also photographs 864, 866 and 867.
