Borrowstone near Dorsell Farm, Muir of Fowlis

An intriguing croft with an equally intriguing collection of immobile landrovers, tractors and implements. The Leochel Burn runs in the glen below the croft.

Pat Reid nee Taylor of Edinburgh wrote to say: "My great grandfather John Taylor was a crofter living at Borrowstone Brae. His death certificate in October 1887 recorded that he died of "gunpowder explosion on the head". Would you happen to know if there are local newspaper archives in Alford which might have recorded his death. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated."
